Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Video Exchange πŸ“½οΈ

πŸ‘‹ Our Product Design Lead, Tom, has recorded a quick intro and put together a few questions to help kick things off.

Your CV and portfolio are a great starting point, but we'd love to get to know the person behind the work, too. ✨ This is your chance to share a bit more about yourself, how you think, and what makes you, you.

Whether your CV follows a traditional path or not, don't stress, we're much more interested in getting a feel for your ideas, personality, and approach. Have fun with it, show us your stuff, and let your creativity shine. πŸš€

Stage 3

Talent Discovery Call ✨

Here you will meet Bel in Talent.

This is your chance to ask loads of questions you have about the role and Zinc. During this meeting, the focus will be on exploring how well the role aligns with your goals and needs. They’ll also delve deeper into your aspirations to determine if this opportunity is the right fit for you. 🌷

They will then support and guide you through every step of your interview journey with us at Zinc. ⚑️
Stage 4

Google Meets Interview πŸ’»

60 min Case Study Presentation 🎀

Here's what this stage looks like:

You'll bring a case study, one you're actually proud of πŸ™Œ, and talk us through it with a deck you've put together beforehand. We want to hear the story behind it: how you framed the problem 🧩, what decisions you had to make, the trade-offs βš–οΈ, and how it played out πŸš€.

Then we'll have a conversation as a panel πŸ’¬. We're curious about how you worked with others on the project (engineering, product, research, whoever was involved) 🀝, how you handled any feedback or disagreement along the way πŸ”„, and what you'd do differently now, with a bit of hindsight πŸ’‘.

Pick something that mattered to you and gives you a bit to talk about ✨. The rest tends to follow naturally.
Stage 5

Final In-Person Interview πŸ§β€β™€οΈπŸ§β€β™‚οΈ

Live Problem-Solving Exercise 🧠

This is an in-person interview in our office in Old Street.

You'll work through a live, real-time problem alongside people from product and engineering, right there in the room with you 🀝. This isn't about having a polished answer ready to go. It's about how you think on your feet and how you collaborate when the people who'd actually be in the room with you day to day are, well, in the room.

We'll be paying attention to how you handle ambiguity and a bit of pushback along the way πŸ”„, how you build on what product and engineering bring to the table rather than going it alone, and how you talk through trade-offs when the clock's ticking ⏱️.

Come as you are, think out loud, and treat it like the working session it's meant to be. The rest tends to follow naturally ✨.
